Alabama residents can register to vote online through the Alabama Secretary of State's website at www.alabamainteractive.org/sos/voter_registration, or by submitting a paper application available at the Baldwin County Registrar's office, public libraries, and various government offices. The deadline for registration is at least 14 days before an election. In the November 2024 general election, Baldwin County reported strong voter turnout consistent with its pattern of high civic engagement, with approximately 63-67% of registered voters participating in the presidential election. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, Alabama voters, including those in the community, will decide numerous important races. Alabama's gubernatorial election will be on the ballot, as Governor Kay Ivey's current term expires in January 2027. All seven of Alabama's U.S. House of Representatives seats will be contested, including Alabama's First Congressional District, which includes Baldwin County. The entire Alabama Legislature is up for election, including all 105 House seats and approximately 18 of the 35 Senate seats (Alabama senators serve staggered four-year terms). Baldwin County voters will also decide various county offices including circuit and district judges, and potentially county commission seats depending on district schedules. Municipal elections in the town will not coincide with the 2026 general election as they are held in odd-numbered years. Alabama voters who are unable to vote in person may request absentee ballots through the Baldwin County Absentee Election Manager at the address and phone number listed above. Alabama allows absentee voting for specific reasons including being out of the county on election day, illness or disability, working required hours that prevent voting, election worker, student or spouse living outside the county, appointed election observer, and several other categories. Absentee ballot applications are available at www.baldwincountyal.gov or from the registrar's office, and completed absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls on election day or postmarked by election day and received within the timeframe specified by Alabama law.
