Registration must be completed at least 25 days before an election to vote in it. The Village of Millbrook conducts municipal elections for Village Trustee positions and other village offices on the third Tuesday in March during designated years. Village Trustees serve four-year terms, and the Village Board includes four trustees plus a separately elected mayor. Those living outside the village but within the Town of Washington vote in town elections for Town Supervisor, Town Board members, and other town positions. Residents can locate their assigned polling place using the lookup tool on the Dutchess County Board of Elections website or by calling the elections office directly. Under Election Law §5-607, New York's voter registration lists are public records, and certified voter lists can be purchased by candidates and political committees. Campaign finance disclosure records for state and local candidates are available through the New York State Board of Elections' campaign finance database at www.elections.ny.gov/CFViewReports.html, while candidate petitions and designating documents are filed as public records with the Dutchess County Board. No U.S. Millbrook voters in the 19th Congressional District will also vote for their U.S. Representative. New York voters can request absentee ballots by submitting an application to the Dutchess County Board of Elections by mail, in person, or online through the state Board of Elections portal; applications must be received by the Dutchess County Board at least seven days before the election (or the day before for illness or unexpected circumstances). New York has early voting available at designated sites for nine days before any election, and no-excuse absentee voting is now permanent in New York following legislative changes, allowing any registered voter to request an absentee ballot without providing a reason.
