Nevada Inmate Search at a Glance
Nevada prison inmates are held by the Nevada Department of Corrections at High Desert State Prison and Southern Desert in Indian Springs, Ely State Prison, Lovelock, the Northern Nevada Correctional Center and Warm Springs in Carson City, the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center in Las Vegas and conservation camps that supply fire crews. County and city jails hold pretrial detainees and sentences of up to a year, and the Clark County Detention Center run by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is by far the largest.
The NDOC Inmate Search is the state lookup. It runs on the offender ID or the name and covers people in custody and people on parole.

What Nevada inmate records show, and what stays private
The Nevada Public Records Act, chapter 239 of the Nevada Revised Statutes, makes the custody record public, and the NDOC posts photographs, physical descriptions, offenses and release dates. Las Vegas Metro and the county sheriffs release booking photos. Medical and mental health records, the pre-sentence investigation, classification and disciplinary files and Parole Board case files are confidential. Criminal history from the Department of Public Safety Records Bureau is limited to the subject and to employers and agencies with legal authority; the public relies on court records instead.

Parole, probation and release in Nevada
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners hears eligible prisoners at the parole eligibility date and posts hearing schedules, decisions and the risk assessment scores it uses. The Division of Parole and Probation of the Department of Public Safety, separate from the prison system, supervises parolees and probationers from offices in Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City and rural districts, which is why probationers do not appear in the NDOC search. The judgment sits with the clerk of the district court of the convicting county, and Clark County and Washoe County post case searches online.
Guide
When the search shows nothing
If the NDOC search returns nothing, check the Clark County Detention Center search for a Las Vegas arrest, the Henderson or North Las Vegas city jails for municipal charges, or the Washoe County Detention Facility for Reno, since pending cases and sentences of up to a year stay in the jail. A probationer is supervised by the Division of Parole and Probation and appears in district court records. Check the federal Bureau of Prisons locator for a federal case and VINELink for a recent release.

Nevada Inmate Search, questions
What is a Nevada offender ID?
It is the identifier the Nevada Department of Corrections assigns at intake. It stays with the person through parole and any return, and the search accepts it directly.
Where is someone arrested in Las Vegas held?
At the Clark County Detention Center, run by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, unless the arrest was on a Henderson or North Las Vegas municipal charge, which those cities hold in their own detention centers.
Does the Nevada inmate search show parolees?
Yes. People on parole appear with a parole office as the location. Probationers are supervised by the Division of Parole and Probation and appear in court records instead.
Does the Nevada search show photos?
Yes. The NDOC inmate search shows a current photograph along with the physical description, offenses and release dates.
