Procious, West Virginia Public Records

The voter registration deadline is 21 days before any election. To register, applicants must be U.S. Citizens, West Virginia residents, at least 17 years old (18 by the general election), and provide their West Virginia driver's license or ID number or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Procious is an unincorporated community and therefore does not hold its own municipal elections for mayor or town council. However, residents vote in Clay County Commission races, county constitutional officer elections (Sheriff, Assessor, Clerk, Prosecutor), West Virginia State Legislature elections (House of Delegates and State Senate districts that include the county), statewide offices, and federal races. Polling places are assigned based on precinct, and residents vote at precincts within their community or nearby. House of Representatives seats (Clay County is in the 2nd Congressional District), West Virginia State Senate seats for districts with members whose terms expire, West Virginia House of Delegates seats (all 100 delegates elected every two years), and county offices including potentially County Commission seats, Sheriff (six-year terms), and other constitutional officers depending on term expiration. West Virginia election records that are publicly accessible include voter registration lists (available for purchase by qualified requesters for political purposes), campaign finance reports filed with the West Virginia Secretary of State's office and searchable at www.sos.wv.gov, candidate filings and ballot access petitions, and precinct-level election results published by the Clay County Clerk and Secretary of State after each election.
