Tunas, Missouri Public Records

Citizens, Missouri residents, at least 17.5 years old (18 to vote), and not currently serving a sentence for a felony conviction. Registration must be completed by the fourth Wednesday prior to any election - 28 days before election day. Online registration requires a valid Missouri driver's license or state ID number. Paper forms are available at the Dallas County Clerk's office, public libraries, and motor vehicle offices. Same-day registration isn't an option in Missouri. As an unincorporated community, Tunas has no municipal government and therefore no mayoral or city council elections. Residents vote only in county, state, and federal contests. Dallas County holds elections for county commission seats, sheriff, county clerk, assessor, collector, and other constitutional offices on varying schedules, with commission districts elected in staggered cycles. Locally, voters participate in Missouri State House of Representatives District 126 and Missouri State Senate District 33 races. Residents can find their specific polling place using the online lookup tool at https://voteroutreach.sos.mo.gov/portal/ or by calling the Dallas County Clerk at (417) 345-2632. Polling locations are assigned by residential address and precinct boundaries. Polls open at 6:00 AM and close at 7:00 PM on election day. Voters must present valid photo ID, a Missouri driver's license, U.S. Passport, military ID, or other government-issued photo identification. Non-photo ID is accepted only with additional verification steps. Missouri election records available to the public include voter registration lists (sold for political purposes), campaign finance reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission (searchable at https://mec.mo.gov), candidate filing information, official election results by precinct, and absentee ballot statistics. Individual voter history, showing which elections a person voted in, but not their choices - is also public. All campaign finance disclosure for candidates and committees can be accessed online. Missouri has no U.S. Senate seat up that year, but voters will decide all eight U.S. House seats including the 4th Congressional District covering Dallas County. Statewide constitutional offices, Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, won't appear since those were elected in 2024 for four-year terms. The Missouri State House of Representatives District 126 seat will be contested, as all 163 House seats face election every two years. Depending on redistricting, the Missouri State Senate District 33 seat may also be on the ballot. Dallas County will elect county offices whose terms expire, potentially including County Commissioners from specific districts and various township offices. Local school board positions for Dallas County R-1 and other area school districts will round out the ballot. Missouri voters can request absentee ballots for specific statutory reasons: absence from the jurisdiction on election day, incapacity or confinement due to illness, religious belief or practice, employment as an election authority, or incarceration (if eligible to vote). Absentee ballot applications are available from the Dallas County Clerk's office or online at https://www.sos.mo.gov/elections. Applications must be received by the second Wednesday prior to the election for mail ballots. Voted absentee ballots must arrive by the close of polls on election day to count. Missouri also offers in-person absentee voting - no-excuse early voting - beginning the third Tuesday prior to any election at the Dallas County Clerk's office during regular business hours.
