Missouri state legislative elections include State Senate districts with 4-year terms and State House districts with 2-year terms. Local voters can locate their assigned polling place using the polling place lookup tool on the Missouri Secretary of State's website at www.sos.mo.gov/elections/pollingplacelookup, or by contacting the Buchanan County Clerk's office directly. Polling locations are assigned based on voter registration address and precinct boundaries. Under Missouri law (Chapter 115 RSMo), certain election records are public, including voter registration lists with some personal information redacted, candidate filings, campaign finance reports, election results by precinct, and official certifications. The Buchanan County Clerk maintains these records, and precinct-level results are typically published on the Buchanan County website after each election. Campaign finance reports for state and local candidates can be searched through the Missouri Ethics Commission website at www.mec.mo.gov. In the November 2024 presidential election, Buchanan County reported approximately 46,000 registered voters with a turnout of roughly 62-65%, consistent with typical presidential election participation in the area. The county has historically leaned Republican in recent election cycles, though local races can be competitive. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, which Missouri holds on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, voters here will decide several important races.
