Arkansas Inmate Search

Arkansas prison inmates are held by the Division of Correction, part of the Arkansas Department of Corrections, in units such as Cummins, Varner, Tucker, Grimes, Wrightsville and the McPherson unit for women in Newport. People awaiting trial and people serving county sentences sit in the 75 county jails, and because state prisons run full, hundreds of sentenced inmates wait in county jails for a prison bed at any given time.

The Arkansas Inmate Population Information Search runs on the ADC number or the name and returns the inmate's ADC number, name, race and sex, birth year, current facility, the total sentence, the offenses with their counties, the parole eligibility date and the projected release date, together with a photograph. The record marks people who are on the county jail backup list waiting for transfer.

The Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility in Little Rock, the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, the Benton County jail in Bentonville, the Sebastian County jail in Fort Smith and the Craighead County jail in Jonesboro all post online rosters with booking dates and charges. Many sheriffs use the same roster software, so the search works the same way from county to county. Arkansas State Police do not hold prisoners; a trooper's arrest lands in the county jail of the arrest.

The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act, Ark. Code section 25-19-101 and following, makes the custody record public, and the Division of Correction posts photographs, sentence data and parole dates online. Jail booking records are public as well. Medical and mental health files, disciplinary hearings, classification records and the pre-sentence report are exempt. A full criminal history comes from the Arkansas State Police Identification Bureau, which offers a name based check to the public for a fee and fingerprint checks for regulated employers.

The Arkansas Post Prison Transfer Board, commonly called the Parole Board, decides parole and transfer to community supervision. Supervision after release is handled by the Division of Community Correction, which also runs the community correction centers in Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Texarkana, West Memphis, Osceola and Fayetteville where some short sentences are served instead of prison. Court records for the conviction sit with the circuit clerk of the county and are searchable through the state courts portal.
