Elections & Voter Records
Bailey, as an unincorporated community, does not hold separate municipal elections for mayor or town council since it has no incorporated city government. Bailey residents participate in Park County elections for County Commissioners, Sheriff, Clerk and Recorder, Assessor, Treasurer, Coroner, and other county offices, typically held in even-numbered years during the November general election. They also vote in state legislative races for Colorado House and Senate districts, statewide offices, and federal elections. Park County was divided into three commissioner districts, with Bailey area voters participating in district-specific commissioner races on a staggered schedule. Colorado uses an all-mail ballot system, automatically sending ballots to all registered voters beginning 22 days before Election Day. Voters can return completed ballots by mail (postage-free), or drop them in secure ballot drop boxes located throughout the county, including locations in Bailey. The Park County Clerk's office provides a list of drop box locations on their website. Voters can also cast ballots in person at voter service and polling centers during early voting periods and on Election Day.
Bailey residents can find their assigned polling place and voter service center locations through the Colorado Secretary of State's voter lookup tool at www.sos.state.co.us/voter/pages/pub/olvr/findVoterReg.xhtml, which displays registration status, ballot status, polling locations, and district assignments. In the November 2024 presidential election, Park County reported a voter turnout of approximately 75-78% of registered voters, consistent with Colorado's high participation rates and the county's engaged electorate. Park County had roughly 11,500 registered voters with about 8,700 ballots cast in the general election. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, Bailey and Park County voters will decide several significant races. The 2026 ballot will include Colorado's gubernatorial race (Governor and Lieutenant Governor serve four-year terms with the next election in 2026), as well as other statewide constitutional offices including Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer. One of Colorado's U.S. Senate seats will be on the ballot in 2026 as Senator Michael Bennet's term expires (Class 3 seat). Bailey residents will vote for their member of the Colorado House of Representatives (all 65 House seats are elected every two years) and potentially a Colorado State Senate seat depending on district rotation (half of the 35 Senate seats are elected every two years for four-year terms). Park County offices up for election in 2026 include County Commissioner positions (on a rotating schedule), and potentially Sheriff, Clerk and Recorder, or other county officials depending on term schedules. School board positions for Platte Canyon School District RE-1 may also appear on the ballot.
Colorado's election records are highly transparent and accessible to the public. Voter registration lists (with some personal information redacted for privacy) are available for purchase from the County Clerk for political and research purposes. Campaign finance records for state and local candidates are searchable through the Colorado Secretary of State's TRACER database at www.sos.state.co.us/campaign-finance, which discloses contributions and expenditures for candidates and issue committees. Candidate filings, including statements of intent and petition signatures, are public records available through the County Clerk for local races and the Secretary of State for state races. Election results by precinct are published by the Park County Clerk after certification, showing vote totals for each race and ballot measure broken down to the precinct level, allowing Bailey-area residents to see voting patterns in their immediate community. Colorado voters can request absentee/mail ballots (though all registered voters automatically receive mail ballots) by updating their registration through the Secretary of State's website or contacting the Park County Clerk's office. Military and overseas voters can request ballots through the Federal Voting Assistance Program and receive ballots electronically. Ballot tracking is available through the BallotTrax system at www.ballottrax.com/voter, allowing voters to receive notifications when their ballot is mailed, returned, and counted.
