Citizens, Tennessee residents, at least 18 years old by election day, and not convicted of certain felonies unless voting rights have been restored. Valid Tennessee driver's license or ID numbers are required for online registration. Since Calhoun does not maintain a separate municipal government with an elected mayor or town council, residents participate in McMinn County and state elections. Polling place assignments can be found using the lookup tool at GoVoteTN.gov by entering name and date of birth, or by contacting the commission directly. Early voting runs for approximately two weeks before each election at the commission office and designated satellite locations, including Saturdays. Absentee voting by mail is available for Tennessee voters who meet specific criteria: voters over 60, voters with disabilities, hospitalized or ill voters, full-time students outside the county, election day workers, residents of nursing homes or veterans facilities, military and overseas voters, and persons confined awaiting trial or with misdemeanor convictions.
