Kentucky residents can register to vote online through the Kentucky State Board of Elections website at govoteky.com. Online registration requires a valid Kentucky driver's license or ID card issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Paper registration forms are available at the Hart County Clerk's office, public libraries, and various state agencies. The state's voter registration deadline falls 29 days before any election. To register, applicants must be U.S. Citizens, Kentucky residents, at least 18 years old by the next general election, and not currently convicted of a felony (or have had civil rights restored if previously convicted). These county offices are typically elected during the general election held in November of even-numbered years, with most county officials serving four-year terms. Residents can find their assigned polling place by using the Voter Information Center at govoteky.com, entering their name and date of birth or address. Polling places are assigned based on precinct boundaries, and local voters typically cast ballots at designated locations in or near the community or at the Hart County Courthouse depending on precinct assignments. Polls are open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time on election day. However, 2026 is a federal midterm election year when voters will elect all U.S. House of Representatives members; Kentucky's 2nd Congressional District includes Hart County, and this seat will be on the ballot. One U.S. Senate seat from Kentucky will also be on the 2026 ballot, Senator Mitch McConnell's seat is up for election in 2026 unless he retires before then. State legislative races will include Kentucky State Senate and Kentucky House of Representatives seats; the community is located in State Senate District 16 and State House District 23, and depending on the election cycle, one or both of these seats may be contested in 2026. County offices may also appear on the ballot depending on term schedules. Local ballot measures or special district elections may also be included. Kentucky voters can request absentee ballots (called "excuse required" absentee voting) if they meet specific criteria including being 65 or older, having a medical condition preventing them from voting in person, being a student residing outside the county, being a military member or overseas citizen, being an election worker assigned outside their precinct, or being incarcerated but still eligible to vote.
