Cohoes, New York Public Records

New York residents can register to vote online at https://voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/MotorVoter/, by mail using a voter registration form, or in person at the Board of Elections or Department of Motor Vehicles. The registration deadline falls 25 days before an election for new registrations and address changes. Acceptable identification includes a driver's license or non-driver ID. The Mayor serves a four-year term, and the City Council consists of members elected by ward. Voters can look up their assigned polling place using the Board's polling place locator at https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/ by entering their address. New York law makes certain election records public, including voter registration lists available to candidates and certain organizations, campaign finance disclosure reports filed with the New York State Board of Elections at www.elections.ny.gov, candidate petitions and filings, and precinct-level election results. Cohoes contributed several thousand of those votes. The ballot will also include all seats in the New York State Assembly and half the State Senate seats, one U.S. Senate seat if it becomes vacant, U.S. House of Representatives for New York's 20th Congressional District which includes the city, Albany County Executive, Albany County Legislature seats, and potentially Cohoes City Court judge if the term expires. New York offers absentee voting for any voter, with applications available at the Board of Elections or online at https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the Board by the seventh day before the election if applying by mail, or the day before the election if applying in person. Early voting runs for nine days prior to Election Day at designated sites announced before each election for county voters.
