Registration closes 28 days before each election, and acceptable identification includes a New Mexico driver's license, state ID number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number. As an unincorporated area, the community has no municipal government, so residents participate in federal, state, and county contests. Polling locations can be found through the New Mexico Secretary of State's Voter Information Portal at nmvote.org by entering a name and date of birth, or by contacting the Guadalupe County Clerk directly. State law (NMSA 1978, § 1-4-5.5) designates voter registration lists as public records available for purchase, though dates of birth and Social Security numbers are redacted. Campaign finance reports are searchable through the New Mexico Secretary of State's Campaign Finance Information System. New Mexico will not have a U.S. Senate race in 2026 (Senator Heinrich and Senator Luján are not up until 2026 and 2028 respectively), but will hold elections for all three U.S. House seats including District 3 which may include portions of the county depending on redistricting. Statewide races will include all five elected positions on the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. State legislative races include all 70 seats in the New Mexico House of Representatives (two-year terms) and potentially some of the 42 State Senate seats if they fall in the appropriate cycle (four-year staggered terms). County voters will elect commissioners, the sheriff, clerk, treasurer, assessor, and potentially other offices depending on term expirations. New Mexico offers both absentee voting and early in-person voting. Absentee ballot applications can be submitted online, by mail, or in person to the Guadalupe County Clerk beginning 84 days before an election. Completed absentee ballots must be received by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Early voting locations and schedules are determined by the Guadalupe County Clerk and typically begin on the third Saturday before Election Day.
