Registration is completed online through the California Secretary of State's portal at https://registertovote.ca.gov/, which requires a California driver's license or ID card number and permits registration up to 15 days before any election. Conditional voter registration remains available during the 14-day period before and on Election Day at the County Elections Office or any vote center, allowing eligible citizens to register and vote provisionally. As an unincorporated community without municipal government, there are no city council or mayoral elections specific to the area. Residents participate in Amador County Board of Supervisors elections for their district - Martell is in District 4 - which are held in even-numbered years during the June primary and November general elections. County supervisors serve four-year terms. Local voters also participate in all statewide and federal elections, including presidential, U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, California Governor, state legislature, statewide ballot measures, and county offices such as Sheriff, District Attorney, Assessor, Auditor-Controller, and Treasurer-Tax Collector.
