West Virginia offers online voter registration through the Secretary of State's website at https://ovr.sos.wv.gov/Register/Landing, where eligible residents can register or update their registration up to 21 days before an election. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, West Virginia residents, at least 17 years old (must be 18 by the general election to vote), and not currently serving a sentence for a felony conviction or under legal declaration of mental incompetence. A valid West Virginia driver's license or state ID number is required for online registration. As an unincorporated community, the town does not hold municipal elections for mayor or town council, so residents participate in county, state, and federal elections only. Nicholas County voters elect three County Commissioners, a County Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, and Assessor in partisan elections held on staggered schedules. At the state level, all 100 seats in the West Virginia House of Delegates will be contested, along with half of the 34-seat West Virginia Senate. Nicholas County voters will elect county commissioners and possibly other county offices depending on term schedules. West Virginia allows absentee voting by mail for voters who will be absent from the county on Election Day, persons with disabilities or illness, those working during polling hours, and election officials.
