Registration deadlines require completion at least 25 days before an election. Polling places in the area are typically community buildings or town offices, with specific locations confirmed before each election. Under New York election law, certain records are public, including voter registration lists (available for political purposes with restrictions), campaign finance disclosure reports filed with the State Board of Elections, candidate petitions and filings, and precinct-level election results. These records can be accessed through the state website or by request to the county Board. In the November 2024 presidential election, Chenango County reported voter turnout of approximately 60-65% of registered voters, consistent with typical presidential election participation in rural upstate counties. The county leaned Republican in recent presidential contests, reflecting its rural and agricultural character. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, voters in the area will decide several important races.
