Registration requires providing name, address, date of birth, and either a driver's license number or last four digits of Social Security number. As an unincorporated hamlet, the community does not hold separate municipal elections. Instead, residents vote in Town of Orangetown elections for Town Supervisor and Town Board members during odd-numbered years, along with Rockland County elections, New York State legislative races, and federal contests. Polling place assignments are available through the Board of Elections website or by calling the office directly. Most local voters cast their ballots at the Palisades Fire House on Route 9W. New York makes certain election records public, including voter registration lists available to candidates and political committees, campaign finance filings through the state Board of Elections at www.elections.ny.gov, candidate petitions and designations, and precinct-level election results. Absentee ballots in New York are available for voters who will be absent from the county on election day, are ill or disabled, or have other qualifying reasons. Applications must be submitted to the Rockland County Board of Elections at least seven days before the election, and ballots must be postmarked by election day and received within seven days to be counted. Early voting is available at designated locations during the nine days preceding election day.
