For the November 3, 2026 general election, voters in the area will decide several significant races: the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Kirsten Gillibrand is not up for election in 2026, as it was last elected in 2024 for a term ending 2030, and Chuck Schumer's seat isn't up until 2028; the Governor's race will be on the 2026 ballot, as Governor Kathy Hochul was elected in 2022 for a four-year term ending in 2026; all 213 seats in the New York State Legislature will be contested, including 150 Assembly seats and 63 Senate seats, which means the 97th Assembly District and 38th Senate District representing the hamlet will appear on ballots; the county will elect county legislators, the County Executive, and possibly the Rockland County Clerk, Sheriff, and District Attorney depending on term cycles; and the Town of Clarkstown may have town board positions if terms expire in even years. New York offers absentee voting to any registered voter. Applications are available at www.elections.ny.gov/VotingAbsentee.html or from the county Board of Elections, and must be received no later than 10 days before the election if applying by mail, or the day before if applying in person. Early voting is available at designated sites during the nine days prior to Election Day, including weekends.
