Person County is located in North Carolina, and is a part of the Piedmont Triad region. It was formed in 1791 from Caswell County. The county seat is Roxboro. The County has a population of 39,380 (2019 estimate).

Person County is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, elected at-large to serve four-year terms. The Board of Commissioners is the legislative body of the county government and is responsible for setting policy, adopting ordinances, levying taxes, and appropriating funds.

The county is served by a Sheriff, who is elected to a four-year term, and a District Attorney, who is appointed by the Governor. The Sheriff is responsible for law enforcement and the District Attorney is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases.
