Pledger, Texas Public Records

Applicants need to provide a Texas driver's license or identification card number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number. As an unincorporated community, Pledger does not hold municipal elections for mayor or city council. Instead, residents vote in county, state, and federal elections. Matagorda County races include County Judge, County Commissioners for four precincts, County Clerk, District Clerk, County Attorney, Sheriff, Tax Assessor-Collector, County Treasurer, and Justices of the Peace. Voters can find their assigned polling place by entering their address at the Texas Secretary of State's polling place locator at www.votetexas.gov or by contacting the Elections Administrator. Early voting locations and hours are announced before each election and typically include the Elections Office in Bay City along with additional sites throughout Matagorda County. County offices on the ballot will include those whose four-year terms expire that year. Absentee voting (vote-by-mail) in Texas is restricted to voters 65 and older, those who will be out of the county during the election period including early voting, those confined in jail but eligible to vote, or those with a disability or illness that prevents voting in person; applications for mail-in ballots must be submitted to the Matagorda County Early Voting Clerk and received no later than 11 days before Election Day. Texas public election records include voter registration rolls (available with restrictions on use), campaign finance reports filed by candidates and political committees (searchable at www.ethics.state.tx.us), candidate applications and filings maintained by the Elections Administrator, and precinct-by-precinct election results published after each election on the Matagorda County website and through the Texas Secretary of State.
