Scurry County is located in the western part of the U.S. state of Texas. The county seat is Snyder. The county was created in 1876 and organized in 1884.

The county government is a Commissioners Court, which is composed of four commissioners elected from single-member districts and a county judge elected at-large. The county judge presides over the court, but has no vote except in the case of a tie. The court is responsible for setting the county's tax rate, adopting the county budget, and approving grants and contracts. The county also has several elected officials, including a sheriff, district attorney, county clerk, county treasurer, and county tax assessor-collector.
