Missouri residents can register to vote online at https://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/goVoteMissouri/, the state's voter registration portal managed by the Secretary of State. Registration must be completed at least 28 days before an election. New registrants need to provide a Missouri driver's license or state ID number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Registration is also available by mail using a form available from the De Kalb County Clerk, or in person at the Clerk's office. Missouri requires voters to present photo identification at the polls; acceptable forms include Missouri driver's license, U.S. Passport, military ID, or other government-issued photo ID. Municipal elections in the city cover positions including mayor and city council. As a fourth-class city, the community elects a mayor and board of aldermen. Municipal elections in Missouri are typically held on the first Tuesday in April in even-numbered years, with candidate filing beginning in December of the preceding year. The next municipal election is scheduled for April 2026. Residents typically vote at a centralized polling location within the city. Under Missouri law, voter registration lists are considered public records and may be purchased for political purposes. Campaign finance reports for state and local candidates are filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission and searchable at https://mec.mo.gov/. Candidate filing information and precinct-level election results are public records maintained by the De Kalb County Clerk and Secretary of State. Missouri does not have a U.S.Current federal, state, and local election schedules, ballot contests, candidate filings, and certified results for Union voters are published by the Missouri Secretary of State Elections (https://www.sos.mo.gov/elections). However, Missouri voters will elect all members of the Missouri House of Representatives (163 seats serving two-year terms) and approximately half of the Missouri Senate (17 of 34 seats serving four-year staggered terms). Residents will participate in elections for their state representative and possibly state senator depending on district rotation. The city's municipal election for mayor and aldermen will occur in April 2026. Missouri offers absentee voting for registered voters who meet specific criteria including absence from the county on election day, incapacity or confinement due to illness, religious belief or practice, employment as an election authority, or incarceration but otherwise qualified to vote. Absentee ballot applications must be submitted to the DeKalb County Clerk's office, with deadlines of 5:00 PM the second Wednesday before the election for mail ballots. Voters may also vote absentee in-person at the De Kalb County Clerk's office beginning the second Tuesday prior to any election.
