Warren County is located in east-central Missouri, and is part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Warrenton. The county was organized in 1833.

Warren County is governed by a three-member County Commission, which is elected in partisan elections for four-year terms. The County Commission is responsible for setting policy, levying taxes, and approving the budget. The County Commission also appoints a County Administrator to oversee the day-to-day operations of the county.

The county is also served by a Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Assessor, Collector, Clerk, Recorder of Deeds, and Public Administrator.

The county is home to several state parks, including Cuivre River State Park, and is known for its rolling hills and scenic views. The county is also home to several wineries and vineyards, as well as the historic Missouri State Fairgrounds.
