Voters also participate in state legislative races for the Wyoming House of Representatives and Wyoming Senate. The community is located in Wyoming House District 47 and Senate District 14 as of current legislative district boundaries, with state legislative elections held in even-numbered years. For the November 2024 general election, Sweetwater County reported approximately 13,500 registered voters with a turnout of roughly 9,100 voters, representing approximately 67% turnout in the presidential election. This reflects Wyoming's typically strong engagement in federal elections. The county, like most of Wyoming, votes heavily Republican in presidential and statewide races. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, Bairoil and Sweetwater County voters will decide several significant races. Wyoming's Class II U.S. Senate seat currently held by John Barrasso will be on the ballot in 2026, pending incumbent decisions, as will Wyoming's single U.S. House seat. The 2026 cycle is also a gubernatorial election year in Wyoming, with the Governor's race, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, and Superintendent of Public Instruction all up for election.
