Sheriff & Law Enforcement. Clark County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Clark County.
Police Departments. Clark County is served by Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Winchester Police Department.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Law enforcement in Clark County, Kentucky, is primarily provided by Clark County Sheriff's Office, headquartered at 1025 North Main Street, Winchester, KY 40391 The Sheriff's Office operates Clark County Detention Center at the same address, housing pre-trial detainees and sentenced misdemeanor offenders. The Winchester Police Department, located at 26 West Washington Street, Winchester, KY 40391, provides municipal law enforcement services within city limits and operates independently from the Sheriff's Office. The Kentucky State Police Post 7 in Richmond also has jurisdiction throughout Clark County for state-level enforcement.

Registration books close on the fourth Tuesday before an election (KRS 116.045(2)); for the 2026 general election the last day to register was Monday, October 5, with online registrations due by 4:00 PM local time.
