Crawford County is located in northwestern Pennsylvania and is part of the Erie, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county seat is Meadville. The county was created on March 12, 1800, from part of Allegheny County.

The county government is composed of three elected commissioners who serve four-year terms, a county controller, a county treasurer, a county sheriff, a district attorney, a prothonotary, a register of wills, a clerk of courts, and a coroner.

Crawford County is part of the Erie-Meadville, PA Combined Statistical Area, which also includes Erie County. The county is home to Allegheny College, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and Thiel College.

The county is also home to several state parks, including Pymatuning State Park, Rose Point Park, and Conneaut Lake Park. The county is also home to several wineries, farms and historical sites.
