Venango County is located in western Pennsylvania, with a population of 57,565 (2019 estimate). The county seat is Franklin, PA. The county was created in 1800 and is named after the Venango River, which flows through the county.

Venango County covers approximately 718 square miles, with a diverse range of topography including rolling hills, lake and mountain regions.

Venango County is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners who are elected every four years. The County is divided into three Commissioner Districts which are determined by population. The Commissioners appoint the County Administrator who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the County.

The county is home to several state parks, including Oil Creek State Park and Allegheny National Forest. The county is also home to several colleges and universities, including Clarion University of Pennsylvania and Penn State Behrend.
