The government of Del Norte County, California is organized as a five-member Board of Supervisors, elected by the citizens of the county. The Board of Supervisors is the legislative body of the county, responsible for setting policy, enacting ordinances, and approving the county budget. Del Norte County is located in the far northwest corner of California, bordering Oregon and the Pacific Ocean. It is the northernmost county in the state, and is home to the Redwood National and State Parks. The county covers an area of 1,230 square miles. The county seat is Crescent City. The county is home to a number of Native American tribes, including the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation, the Yurok Tribe, and the Smith River Rancheria. The economy of the county is largely based on timber, fishing, and tourism.
