Sheriff & Law Enforcement. Essex County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement across Essex County, particularly in unincorporated areas.
Police Departments. In addition to Essex County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement in Essex County is provided by municipal police departments in towns like Island Pond and Canaan.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Essex County Sheriff's Department, headquartered in Guildhall, Vermont, provides primary law enforcement services across Essex County's vast territory. Municipal police departments are virtually nonexistent in Essex County due to its extremely rural nature and small town populations; law enforcement is primarily handled by the Sheriff's Department and Vermont State Police.
