The county maintains election information at https://www.hillsdalecounty.info/. Michigan residents can complete voter registration online using the Michigan Voter Information Center at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/. The state offers same-day voter registration, allowing eligible citizens to register and cast ballots on the same day at either the clerk's office or their assigned polling place. Anyone registering same-day must present proof of residency, such as a Michigan driver's license, state ID, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government document showing name and address. Since Michigan has eliminated registration deadlines, residents can register right up through Election Day. Frontier voters cast ballots at Amboy Township precinct locations, with specific polling place assignments available by entering an address into the Michigan Voter Information Center. The MVIC portal additionally lets voters review sample ballots, monitor absentee ballot status, and confirm their registration details. Because Frontier is an unincorporated community rather than a municipality, residents don't vote for a separate mayor or city council. Instead, they participate in Amboy Township elections for supervisor, clerk, treasurer, and trustee positions, which typically occur during even-numbered years in August for primaries and November for general elections. County elections include races for Hillsdale County commissioners, sheriff, prosecutor, clerk/register of deeds, treasurer, and drain commissioner. During the November 2024 presidential election, Hillsdale County tallied approximately 16,500 total votes, with turnout reaching an estimated 72-75% of registered voters, a strong showing for this rural, conservative-leaning county. All 110 seats in the Michigan House of Representatives will be contested, including the district representing Frontier, currently the 58th House District. All 38 Michigan State Senate seats will also appear on the ballot in 2026, following the state's four-year Senate term structure. Amboy Township positions such as supervisor may also be contested depending on individual term schedules. The U.S. Michigan's other U.S. Senate seat, held by Elissa Slotkin following her 2024 election to a six-year Class I term, won't be contested until 2030. Michigan provides no-reason absentee voting, meaning any registered voter can request an absentee ballot without stating a justification.
