Glades County is a rural county located in the state of Florida. The county seat is Moore Haven. The county was founded in 1921 and is named for the Florida Everglades. The county has a total area of 645 square miles.

Glades County is governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners. The Board meets the first and third Wednesday of every month. in the Glades County Commission Chambers located on the second floor of the Glades County Courthouse.

Glades County is served by a state-funded fire department, ambulance service, public library, and public school district. The county operates parks, recreation facilities, and a senior services center.

Glades County is also home to the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, a federally protected wildlife refuge. The county is also home to the Kissimmee River, Lake Okeechobee, and the Florida Everglades.
