Police Departments. In addition to Martin County Sheriff's Office, several city police departments serve Martin County, including the Stuart Police Department and the Jupiter Island Public Safety Department.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Martin County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff William Snyder, is the primary law enforcement agency for unincorporated areas and provides countywide services including operating Martin County detention facility. The detention facility, located at the same address as the Sheriff's headquarters, houses pre-trial detainees and sentenced inmates. Florida Statute 119.07 guarantees public access to government records with limited exemptions for active criminal intelligence, confidential informants, and certain ongoing investigations.
