These positions typically appear on the ballot during even-numbered years, divided between presidential and midterm election cycles. Polling locations are assigned based on precinct boundaries, and residents vote at their designated precinct on Election Day. In the November 2024 general election, Butler County saw voter turnout consistent with rural Missouri counties during a presidential year, with several thousand ballots cast across county precincts. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, county residents will decide several significant races. Missouri will not have a U.S. Senate race in 2026 (Senate seats are up in 2024 and 2028), but voters will elect all members of the Missouri House of Representatives for two-year terms. Missouri State Senate seats in even-numbered districts will be on the ballot, representing half the Senate. Local voters will participate in electing their state representative and the state senator representing their district. At the Butler County level, several Butler County offices will appear on the 2026 ballot depending on the election cycle for each position, potentially including sheriff, county commissioners, and other constitutional offices.
