Laclede County is located in the southwestern part of Missouri and is part of the Ozarks region. The county seat is Lebanon. The county was organized in 1849.

The county government is composed of a three-member County Commission, elected at-large to four-year terms, and other elected officials, including Sheriff, Prosecuting Attorney, Assessor, Collector, Clerk, and Public Administrator.

The county is served by the Lebanon R-III School District. Higher education is provided by Ozarks Technical Community College and Missouri State University-West Plains.

The economy of Laclede County is largely based on agriculture, with beef cattle, hay, and corn being the primary crops. Other industries include manufacturing, retail, and tourism.
