Camden County is located in the south-central portion of Missouri, and is part of the Lake of the Ozarks region. The county seat is Camdenton. The county was organized in 1841.

The Camden County government is composed of a three-member County Commission, elected at-large to serve four-year terms. The County Commission is responsible for setting the county budget, levying taxes, and overseeing county departments.

The county also has a Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Assessor, Collector, Public Administrator, and Coroner, all of whom are elected to four-year terms.

The county is divided into seven townships, each of which is governed by a board of trustees. The townships are: Osage, Richland, Linn, Osage Beach, Camdenton, Rocky Mount, and Macks Creek.

The county is served by the Camdenton R-III School District, which operates seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The county also has several private schools.

The county is served by the Camden County Library, which operates five branches throughout the county.
