Sheriff & Law Enforcement. LaPorte County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of LaPorte County. Notable divisions within the sheriff's office include the patrol division, detective bureau, and a K-9 unit, each playing a crucial role in maintaining public safety and order throughout LaPorte County.
Police Departments. LaPorte County is served by several law enforcement agencies, including LaPorte County Sheriff's Office and municipal police departments such as the La Porte Police Department and the Michigan City Police Department.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. LaPorte County Sheriff's Office, located at 813 Lincolnway, LaPorte, IN 46350, is the primary law enforcement agency for unincorporated areas and provides countywide services including operating LaPorte County Jail. LaPorte County Jail houses inmates awaiting trial or serving sentences, and the public can search for current inmates through the jail roster available on the Sheriff's website or by calling the jail directly at extension 4.
