Roberts County is located in the northern part of the Texas Panhandle. It is bordered by Ochiltree County to the north, Lipscomb County to the east, Hemphill County to the south, and Hutchinson County to the west. The county seat is Miami.

The county is governed by a four-member Commissioners Court, with one commissioner representing each of the four precincts in the county. The county judge presides over the court. Other elected officials include the sheriff, tax assessor-collector, and county clerk.

The county is home to several attractions, including the historic Baker Building in Miami, the Lusk Collection of artifacts, and the Miami Museum. The land is mostly flat, with elevations ranging from 2,400 to 2,900 feet above sea level. Much of the county is used for farming and ranching, and the main agricultural products are wheat, sorghum, hay, and cattle. There are also large deposits of oil and natural gas in the area.
