This office administers all federal, state, county, and local elections for Van Nuys residents. California offers online voter registration through the Secretary of State at registertovote.ca.gov, accepting registrations up to 15 days before any election, with conditional voter registration available through Election Day at vote centers and county elections offices for those who miss the deadline. California requires either a driver license number, California ID number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number to register online. As a neighborhood within the City of Los Angeles, Van Nuys residents vote in municipal elections for Los Angeles Mayor, City Attorney, City Controller, and City Council District 6 representative. Los Angeles municipal elections are held in June with runoffs in November of odd-numbered years; the next mayoral election is June 2026 (if needed) with any runoff in November 2026. City Council District 6, which represents Van Nuys, will also be on the 2026 ballot.
