Waseca County is located in the south-central part of Minnesota. It is bordered by Steele, Rice, Blue Earth, Freeborn, and Faribault counties. As of the 2010 census, the population was 19,136. The county seat is Waseca.
The county government is organized into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is headed by the County Board of Commissioners, which consists of five members elected at-large. The legislative branch is the County Board of Commissioners, which is responsible for setting policy and enacting ordinances. The judicial branch is the Waseca County District Court, which is responsible for hearing civil and criminal cases.
