Homme County is located in the southeastern corner of South Dakota and is part of the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 7,070. The county seat is Tyndall.
The county government is organized into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is composed of the County Commission, which is made up of five elected commissioners. The legislative branch is composed of the County Council, which is made up of seven elected members. The judicial branch is composed of the Circuit Court, which is made up of one judge.
