Yankton County is located in the southeastern corner of South Dakota. It is bordered by the Missouri River to the east, Charles Mix County to the south, Hutchinson County to the west, and Clay and Union Counties to the north. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 22,438. The county seat is Yankton.
