Sheriff & Law Enforcement. Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Cumberland County.
Police Departments. Cumberland County is served by several law enforcement agencies, including Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and municipal police departments in cities like Portland, South Portland, and Westbrook.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, headquartered at 36 County Road in Portland, ME 04102, provides law enforcement services throughout Cumberland County under Sheriff Kevin Joyce. Municipal police departments operate independently in cities and towns including Portland Police Department (207-874-8575), South Portland Police (207-799-5511), Westbrook Police (207-854-0644), Scarborough Police (207-883-6361), Brunswick Police (207-725-5521), Gorham Police (207-839-5581), and Yarmouth Police (207-846-3333). §§ 401-410, though certain investigative records may be temporarily exempt.

From the old mine records
The mine records hold 86 named mine sites inside the county, 56 of them worked out or abandoned; the old survey maps add 363 holes drawn inside the county, 0 of them shafts or tunnels. The minerals the records name are construction sand and gravel; Granite; Feldspar.
A point in either file is a location, not a property line: the sheet shows the opening on the surface, not the rooms under it. The record that shows what runs under a parcel is the mine map. The OSMRE National Mine Map Repository holds scanned underground mine maps and answers requests for a named mine or an area.

Certified birth and death certificates for Maine come from the Maine CDC, Data, Research and Vital Statistics (DRVS). Maine's vital records are housed at DRVS and at most municipal offices statewide; records created before 1892 come from the municipality where the event took place or from the Maine State Archives. In person at DRVS, 220 Capitol Street, Augusta (walk ins 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), by mail with the application, identification and fee, or online through VitalChek, the independent company DRVS has partnered with. Fee: $15.00 per certificate, $6.00 for each additional copy ordered at the same time.
