As an unincorporated hamlet within the Town of Saugerties, Glasco has no separate municipal elections. Instead, residents participate in Town of Saugerties elections for Town Supervisor, Town Board members, Town Clerk, and other town positions, held in November of odd-numbered years. Local voters also participate in all Ulster County elections for County Executive, County Legislature, Sheriff, County Clerk, and other county offices. Looking ahead to November 3, 2026, voters in the area will decide several significant races. While New York's U.S. Senate seat currently held by Kirsten Gillibrand is not up for election in 2026 (next election 2024), and Chuck Schumer's seat doesn't come up until 2028, the ballot will include races for New York Governor and Lieutenant Governor (Governor Kathy Hochul's current term expires in 2026), New York State Attorney General, New York State Comptroller, all 150 seats in the New York State Assembly including the district representing the hamlet (Assembly District 103 or 102 depending on redistricting), one of the 63 New York State Senate seats representing the area, Ulster County Executive, several Ulster County Legislature seats for the district including Saugerties, and Town of Saugerties positions if on the regular 2026 cycle. New York allows absentee voting for registered voters who meet specific criteria: absence from county on election day, temporary or permanent illness or disability, duties related to primary care of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled, or detention in jail or prison awaiting trial.
