The voter registration deadline falls 25 days before any election for new registrations and address changes. Valid identification isn't required to register, though applicants must provide their New York driver's license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Since Marlboro is an unincorporated hamlet without its own municipal government, residents don't vote in mayoral or city council elections. Instead, they participate in Town of Marlborough elections for Town Supervisor, Town Council members, and Town Justice, typically held in odd-numbered years on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The next Town of Marlborough elections will be held in November 2025. In the November 2024 presidential election, Ulster County reported approximately 69% voter turnout, with roughly 115,000 registered voters casting approximately 79,000 ballots, a strong showing typical of presidential cycles in the Hudson Valley. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, Marlboro and Ulster County voters will decide several significant races: the New York gubernatorial election, as Governor Kathy Hochul's term expires in 2026; all 213 seats in the New York State Assembly including the 104th Assembly District which includes Marlboro; all 63 New York State Senate seats including the 41st Senate District; the New York State Comptroller and Attorney General positions; and Ulster County offices including County Executive, County Legislature seats, and potentially County Clerk and Sheriff depending on term schedules. There is no U.S. Senate seat from New York up for election in 2026, as Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's term runs through 2024 and Senator Chuck Schumer's through 2028, with the next open seat in 2028.
