County profile
Sheriff & Law Enforcement. Logan County Sheriff's Office is responsible for maintaining law and order in Logan County, particularly in the unincorporated areas.
Police Departments. Logan County is served by several law enforcement agencies, including Logan County Sheriff's Office and municipal police departments such as the Logan Police Department and the Chapmanville Police Department.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. Logan County Sheriff's Department, headquartered at 300 Stratton Street, Logan, WV 25601, is the primary law enforcement agency for unincorporated areas of Logan County. The Sheriff's office can be reached through the office maintains jurisdiction over county-wide law enforcement operations, court security, civil process service, and operation of the Southern Regional Jail. Logan County contracts with the Southern Regional Jail, located in nearby Raleigh County at 1200 Airport Road, Beaver, WV 25813, for housing of inmates. To look up inmates, the public can use the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority's online inmate search system at wvregionaljails.wvnet.edu, which provides real-time booking information, charges, bond amounts, and release dates. Municipal law enforcement services are provided by the Logan area Police Department within city limits, which operates independently from the Sheriff's office.

Booking photos are kept by the agency that made the arrest, such as the Logan County Sheriff's Office or a city police department in Logan County. Ask that agency for its record. Under W. Va. Code 62-1-6a a state, county or city law enforcement agency may not share on social media the booking photograph of a person arrested for a minor offense unless the person is convicted, is a fugitive or threat, or a court orders it, and it must take a posted booking photograph down within 14 days on request after a dismissal, no indictment or an acquittal. The Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation is not covered by that section.
