Newberry County is located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2010 census, its population was 37,508. The county seat is Newberry. The county was created in 1785.
Newberry County is governed by a seven-member County Council, elected from single-member districts. The County Council is responsible for setting policy, levying taxes, and approving the county budget. The County Administrator is responsible for carrying out the policies and directives of the County Council, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the county government.
