Paluxy, Texas Public Records

Texas residents can register online through the Texas Secretary of State at www.texas.gov/living-in-texas/register-to-vote/, or submit a paper application available from the Hood County elections office, libraries, and most government offices. Registration closes 30 days before any election. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, at least 18 by election day, county residents, not finally convicted of a felony unless the sentence including parole and probation is fully completed, and not declared mentally incapacitated by a court. A valid Texas driver's license or state ID number is required. As an unincorporated community, Paluxy has no municipal elections for mayor or city council since no incorporated city government exists. Instead, residents vote in Hood County, state, and federal elections. The Hood County Commissioners Court includes four commissioners elected from geographic precincts. Local voters participate in electing their precinct commissioner and county-wide offices including County Judge, Sheriff, County Clerk, District Clerk, Tax Assessor-Collector, and other positions. County elections occur in November of even-numbered years. Residents can find their assigned polling place by visiting the Hood County Elections website at www.co.hood.tx.us/page/hood.elections or calling 817-579-3236. Texas also provides a statewide polling place lookup at www.votetexas.gov. During early voting, the county uses countywide voting centers, allowing registered voters to cast ballots at any early voting location regardless of precinct. On election day, voters must use their assigned precinct polling place. Under Texas law, voter registration lists are public records available for purchase for political purposes. Campaign finance reports for candidates and political committees are filed with the Texas Ethics Commission and searchable at www.ethics.state.tx.us. Candidate filing information and precinct-level election results are public records the Hood County Elections Administrator maintains and posts on the Hood County website after certification. The county favored Republican candidates by substantial margins, consistent with its conservative political character. Texas does not have a U.S.Current federal, state, and local election schedules, ballot contests, candidate filings, and certified results for Paluxy voters are published by the Texas Secretary of State Elections Division (https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/). Local voters participate in Texas House District 60 and Texas Senate District 22 elections. School district board positions and special district elections may also appear on the ballot. Texas maintains restrictive mail-in voting rules. Absentee ballots are available only to voters who are 65 or older, disabled, out of the county during the election period including early voting, or confined in jail but otherwise eligible. Applications for mail ballots must be submitted to the Hood County Elections Administrator and received (not postmarked) by the close of business 11 days before election day. Early voting for most elections runs 17 days before election day through the fourth day before election day.
