Legal notices, public notices and obituaries in Texas
Texas law requires notices to creditors in probate, name changes, citation by publication in lawsuits, tax sales, unclaimed property lists and county and city hearings and elections to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county, and the Texas Press Association publishes public notices from member papers. Foreclosure notices in Texas are posted at the county courthouse and filed with the county clerk rather than published, so the clerk's records are the source for them. Most papers in Texas, daily and weekly, carry obituaries. Court coverage pairs with the online case searches of the district and county clerks in most large counties.
