Sheriff & Law Enforcement. San Miguel County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of San Miguel County.
Police Departments. In addition to San Miguel County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement in San Miguel County is provided by several municipal police departments.
Law Enforcement & Arrests. San Miguel County Sheriff's Office, headquartered at 2801 National Avenue, Las Vegas, NM 87701, provides primary law enforcement services to unincorporated areas of San Miguel County. Municipal law enforcement is provided by the Las Vegas Police Department, serving the City of Las Vegas, located at 1895 Mills Avenue, Las Vegas, NM 87701 Arrest records in San Miguel County are public records subject to disclosure under the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (NMSA 1978, §§ 14-2-1 through 14-2-12). Citizens may request arrest records by submitting a written request to the Sheriff's Office or the applicable municipal police department, though law enforcement agencies may redact certain confidential information related to ongoing investigations or juvenile offenders. New Mexico State Police District 4 also maintains jurisdiction over state highways and assists local agencies throughout San Miguel County.
