Shell Knob conducts municipal elections for mayor and city council members on the first Tuesday in April in even-numbered years, with the next municipal election scheduled for April 2026. Candidates for municipal office file declarations of candidacy with the Shell Knob City Clerk during the filing period in December and January preceding the April election. Shell Knob voters also participate in Barry County elections, Missouri state legislative elections, and federal elections.
