Under Mississippi law, various election records are public, including voter registration lists available for purchase for political purposes, campaign finance reports filed by candidates and PACs searchable through the Secretary of State's Campaign Finance system, candidate qualifying documents, and precinct-level election results. In the November 2024 presidential election, De Soto County reported strong voter turnout with approximately 68-72% of registered voters casting ballots, reflecting De Soto County's engaged electorate and continued population growth. Looking ahead to the November 3, 2026 general election, voters will decide several important races: all of Mississippi's four U.S. House of Representatives seats will be on the ballot with the town located in District 1; the Mississippi Governor's race will not occur until 2027 as the state holds gubernatorial elections in odd years; all 122 Mississippi House seats and all 52 Mississippi Senate seats will be contested in 2026 with local residents voting in specific House and Senate districts covering northern De Soto County; various county offices including supervisors, sheriff, circuit clerk, chancery clerk, tax assessor, and tax collector may be on the ballot depending on term schedules; and any local school board positions or ballot initiatives may appear.
